Fashion forward? The jury's out on Solange Knowles' Charlie's Angels 70's-style outfit

New York Fashion Week sees the crème de la crème of the fashion world flock to Manhattan to check out the latest trends and styles.
So if there was ever a time to get away with a slightly out-there outfit, it is during these seven days.
However, when Solange Knowles stepped out in a 70's-inspired outfit, the jury was out on whether she was being fashion-forward, or if she had made a sartorial error.

The 25-year-old singer donned a long purple pleated skirt, teamed with a midriff-baring black tied shirt and huge leopard-print heels as she stepped out for fashion week.
The star's teaming of the outfit with an afro-style hair 'do and lashings of gold jewellery suggested she may have been inspired by TV show Charlie's Angels.
Ironically, Solange's outfit comes just days after she gave an interview recalling her fashion mistakes over the years.

Asked if she had any fashion regrets, she told Stylelist.com: 'Absolutely, more than I can count. During my teenage years, I put stuff on without looking twice.
'Sometimes I wish I would've looked in the mirror before walking out. There was an awards show where I decided it would be cool to make a T-shirt into a tube top.
'I cut a Gap Kids T-shirt and safety-pinned it together. It was very unfortunate.'

Solange also said she is looking forward to exploring the latest trends at fashion week.
Asked which shows she is most excited about, Solange replied: 'Definitely Gerlan. I'm a a big fan of the line and I know her - she's a great friend of mine.
'We have the same hairstylist - Chuck Amos, who does my hair, does all of her shows. So, I got a sneak peek of the looks. I'm also excited to see Duro Olowu.'
